Explanation: How do you calculate fuel consumption?
There are two commonly used ways to express fuel consumption:
1. Kilometres per litre (km/l)
Formula:
km per litre = distance ÷ litres used
The higher the result, the more fuel-efficient the car.
2. Litres per 100 kilometres (l/100 km)
Formula:
litres per 100 km = (litres ÷ distance) × 100
The lower the result, the more fuel-efficient the vehicle.
