Vat Calculator
Easily calculate amounts including or excluding VAT with our fast VAT calculator. Ideal for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and private individuals.
What is VAT and how do you calculate it?
VAT stands for Value Added Tax and is a tax that companies remit on their turnover. In the Netherlands, two rates usually apply: 21% (high rate) and 9% (low rate, e.g. for food and books). Sometimes 0% applies to exports or exempt services.
Add or remove VAT
Do you want to know how much VAT you need to add to an amount, or conversely, how much of a total amount is VAT? Then use our free VAT calculator. Enter the amount, choose the correct rate (for example 21%), and select whether you want to add or remove VAT. Within one click, you will see the result – including the VAT amount and total price.
Example calculation
Suppose you sell a product for €100 excluding VAT. With 21% VAT, €21 is added to that, so the total amount including VAT is €121.00. Conversely: if you have an amount of €121 including VAT, then the amount excluding VAT is €100 and the VAT amount is €21.
