Calculate VAT

Calculate amounts including or excluding VAT with our fast VAT calculator. Ideal for businesses, self-employed professionals and individuals.

What is VAT and how do you calculate it?

VAT stands for Value Added Tax and is a tax that businesses pay on their turnover. In the Netherlands, two rates generally apply: 21% (standard rate) and 9% (reduced rate, including for food and books). Sometimes 0% applies to exports or exempt services.

Adding or removing VAT

Do you want to know how much VAT to add to an amount, or how much VAT is included in a total amount? Use our free VAT calculator. Enter the amount, select the correct rate (for example, 21%) and choose whether you want to add or remove VAT. With one click, you will see the result – including the VAT amount and total price.

Calculation example

Suppose you sell a product for €100 excluding VAT. With 21% VAT, €21 is added, making the total amount including VAT €121,00. Conversely, if you have an amount of €121 including VAT, the amount excluding VAT is €100 and the VAT amount is €21.
